HostGator Quickly Climbing Up the 2009 Inc 5000 List
Founded in 2002, HostGator.com has recently shown a rapid rise in its ranking among its peers according to the Inc. 5000 list for 2009. The web hosting and server provider has shown a 896 percent growth and is now listed as number 239 among the fastest growing privately owned companies in the U.S.
About HostGator
HostGator.com is a web hosting provider that includes services such as shared and reseller hosting as well as dedicated servers. The company offers excellent 24×7 support, a huge array of web hosting tools and programs to include a free billing program and provides over 4,500 web site templates to their customers.
Overall rankings
Based in Houston, Texas, HostGator has grown from a small hosting company with just three servers into a world leading hosting competitor with more than 7,000 managed servers. HostGator is also home to over two million domains – this is about 1% of the world’s traffic over the Internet. In 2005, the company had revenues of $3.4 million. Just three years later, they’ve managed to multiply this by ten, garnering annual revenues of $34.2 million. This measures out to be a 896% growth.
Additionally, HostGator has managed a #6 ranking out of businesses in the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown Texas area while coming out as #20 in the category of Business Products and Services in the U.S.
Ranking as #21 overall last year in comparison with this year’s ranking can seem to some as a ranking drop. However, the company doubled their revenue in the space of that year and, according to Jay Weissman, HostGator.com’s Affiliate Director, the company is still seeing substantial growth in every service they have to offer.
Growth even with unemployment on the rise
Even with unemployment on the rise in the U.S. over the past year (up 3.7% from July 2008 to July 2009 as per the Bureau of Labor Statistics), HostGator has managed to add over a hundred new technicians and systems’ administrators. They have attributed their growth to small and medium-sized businesses. Chad Bean, HostGator’s CMO states that these companies are able to utilize their services in order to further their own profits via HostGator’s advertising and promotion tools.
