Delivering a high-quality, reliable service since its inception, it’s no surprise that HostDime presently services more than 500,000 domains throughout the globe.

Reliability (3.5/5)
HostDime outgrew its first data facility in 2004, opening up a bigger and better version in 2005. The new center boasts well over 10,000 square ft., leaving the company with more than enough space for an estimated 3,000 servers and plenty of room to grow from there. While the operations of their data center seem to be pretty tight, we have discovered that HostDime experiences a significant amount of downtime, particularly over the last two months. This information can be accessed from the “Status” tab on their homepage. Every web host experiences downtime and technical difficulties; it’s just a little scary when you see the numbers for yourself.

Web hosting with HostDime begins at $9.00 per month. Not really all that expensive, but considerably more than other plans on the market. This price gets you 200 GB of storage and 2,000 GB in bandwidth, which is more than enough for the average user. Unlimited MySQL databases are also provided along with unlimited FTP accounts and sub-domains. The fact that you can only host 10 domains and the lack of e-commerce support makes this plan very unattractive to the small business owner.

HostDime offers the latest version of cPanel, allowing you to control all the features of your hosting account. This includes your email accounts, webmail and databases. It also features the Fantastico script installer which offers a library of programs to add instant functionality to your site. cPanel certainly makes administering your site easy, but you will get more value out of this great program when signing up with for their Deluxe or Business plan.

HostDime is one company that understands the importance of quality support, an area in which they excel. When managing your hosting account gets challenging, HostDime offers a variety of ways to contact them for help. On their website you’ll find a support page filled with resources. State your problem via toll free phone, support ticket or online form. There is also a huge knowledgebase and helpful tutorials that round out HostDime’s exceptional 24/7 customer service.

HostDime’s basic plan is ideal for personal users but not nearly enough for the small business owner. It’s lacking in regard to bandwidth and storage, along with many of the features that have become standard in the industry. As mentioned before, there are other HostDime plans to choose from, ranging up to $25 per month. This alone deducts the value of their mediocre $9.00 plan.
