BigCommerce Review
In 2003, co-founders Mitchell Harper and Eddie Machaalani created and launched Interspire. Their latest product, BigCommerce was created to make e-commerce easy and affordable without customers needing an extensive background in HTML or design. The product’s motto is “If your 80 year old grandma can’t use it then it’s too hard!” – the perfect way to describe a product that is one of the most simple to use out on the market today.
Ease of Use (5/5)

One thing is for certain, users of the BigCommerce program do not need to have HTML or designing knowledge to work with the program. The entire product is based on a drag and drop design mode enabling users to change the entire look of their online store with some quick and easy use of the mouse. The product includes a “getting started” wizard that guides new users through the entire process of getting their retail products online. If this wasn’t simple enough, BigCommerce also offers videos that help when one is completely stuck.
Price Value (5/5)

BigCommerce offers five different plans based on users’ e-commerce needs. Starting at $24.95 a month, BigCommerce customers are able to put 100 products online, set up 3 staff log-in accounts, have 2 gigabytes of bandwidth allowed on a monthly basis and are given 200 MB of disk storage. On the high end of the spectrum, the Diamond account offered runs at $299.95 a month and includes unlimited amounts of products, 100 total staff log-in accounts, 30 gigabytes of bandwidth and 3 gigabytes of disk storage. All accounts have a one-time $49.95 setup fee included. Additionally, new customers can try out any of the accounts for free for the first 15 days. A pretty good bargain all around.
Control Panel (5/5)

The BigCommerce control panel is tabbed bliss. Each tabbed section is clearly indicated and categorizes common tasks into easily understood areas. The main home page of the control panel indicates different areas that need to be attended to in order to set up one’s e-commerce site – store configurations, design, product adding, as well as payment, tax and shipping methods. As previously mentioned, if a user is ever confused or stuck, the control panel has a large assortment of video walkthroughs designed to assist even the most novice of users. At the top of each section of the control panel, users will also find a convenient “help” link. Clicking on this link gives users a quick way to access the BigCommerce knowledge base and support portal.
Customer Support (5/5)

BigCommerce has placed its support area in a separate portal. This area houses a huge knowledge base, popular and new articles, a search bar that peruses all available information, training videos and an option to open a support ticket. The support portal is well-presented and very simple to use.
Overall Value (5/5)

When it comes to e-commerce ready web hosting solutions, BigCommerce is highly recommended. A simple control panel and more than enough support options, BigCommerce can work for even the most novice of e-commerce customers.
