Bluehost VS Easy-CGI

Bluehost VS Easy-CGI

A company that offers a variety of hosting products to choose from or the simplicity of a straight forward hosting plan that is packed full of features? That’s what it all comes down to when choosing between Bluehost and Easy-CGI and the determination must be based on business needs.

Both Bluehost and Easy-CGI offer web hosting packages at a very low monthly price. Bluehost charges its customers $6.95 monthly while Easy-CGI offers hosting starting at $7.96 a month. Where the two companies differ, however, is in the choices of web hosting packages. Bluehost offers just the one web hosting option. However, it is loaded with all you need, has no hidden or set up fees and includes a registered domain. Easy-CGI offers three hosting account options which allow you to choose the best one to fit your business. Additionally, Easy-CGI offers Linux VPS hosting and e-mail only hosting accounts.

Products and Services

In addition to its web hosting offerings, Easy-CGI also offers a variety of other web site services. You can register your domains with the company, choose from several e-commerce tools to get your site “shop ready” and incorporate some of the many add-ons Easy-CGI offers. If you are in need of marketing services, they offer this as well – search engine optimization and linking information all at your fingertips.

Not to be outdone, Bluehost gives its customers a choice of several shopping carts and SSL secure server access within its e-commerce package. Each account also comes with a free search engine submission as well.

Web Hosting Features

Bluehost likes to give its customers a lot of unlimited features in each account. Disk storage, hosted domains, add-on and parked domains, and bandwidth are just a few of these. All accounts are equipped with PHP 5, Perl 5, Python and Ruby on Rails to cover your scripting needs. For plug-ins, you can expect to choose from programs such as Moodle, WordPress, b2evolution and more. Hosted accounts run on quad processor performance servers and are backed up by a diesel generator in case of power issues. You can expect your site to monitored 24×7 and your data to be backed up on a regular basis.

Unlimited domains and ftp accounts are what you can expect with Easy-CGI. In its advanced features, accounts are set with PHP 4 and 5, Perl 5, ASP, ASP.NET and Ajax. If you require FrontPage extensions, Easy-CGI has got you covered. Within its script library you can choose from programs such as DotNetNuke, Gallery2 and osCommerce. All accounts are hosted on Dell servers, have UPS power and a backup generator in place to ensure your site is up at all times.

Customer Service

Both Bluehost and Easy-CGI are just about similar when it comes to support. All support options are easily accessed in one central location within their company websites, include FAQs, tutorials, a knowledge base and e-mail support. Bluehost comes out slightly ahead, however, by showing a toll-free number that is accessible 24×7 and a live chat option for when you really need help and need it quickly.

Both companies are well established and have a lot to offer. If your business needs include being able to grow and change your hosting products with that growth, the recommendation is to choose Easy-CGI. If the basics but with a bit more in the support area are what your business requires, the recommendation is Bluehost.
