Bluehost vs. ReliaCloud

Bluehost vs. ReliaCloud

Cloud computing has made extensive leaps in technological advances. Cloud technology has proven to be more secure, faster, and reliable than traditional server technology architecture. And ReliaCloud has made advances in bringing cloud server technology to the masses with reasonably priced cloud hosting options.

Bluehost is a giant in the web hosting industry with millions of customers, and growing by over 20,000 each month. They have been doing business since 1996 making them a champion veteran of web hosting. They have honed their hosting plan to make them one of the most popular hosting companies around.

With cloud technology on one side, experience and a smooth-operating hosting plan on the other, which of these companies is right for you? Read on to find out our analysis below.

Bluehost has found that offering a single hosting plan is what works best for them. Their plan is just $5.95 per month. But clients can always buy up to the “Pro” plan for $19.95 per month to get an SSL certificate, free backup, more CPU memory and power, and free anti-spam accounts.

The ReliaCloud hosting plan is designed to “pay as you use”. It starts at just $0.05 per hour for one cloud server, averaging about $36 per month. The nice thing about the pricing is that clients can add more servers and memory during peak hours, and switch them off when not in use.

Products and Services

Bluehost is dedicated to helping anyone with a domain get their website online. They offer free eCommerce features to help get a business doing transactions online. They offer a free $75 Google marketing credit, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee, plus an anytime money back guarantee.

ReliaCloud has a focus of bringing affordable, secure, and reliable cloud computing to the hosting world. They don’t offer much in “extra” features.

Web Hosting Features

The ReliaCloud plan is not structured the same as shared-server hosting plans. Instead, clients get choices in server space, number of CPU’s (up to 8), processor power, RAM, and a choice of software platform. Clients are expected to download their own software needed for their websites.

Bluehost has geared a hosting plan that suits almost any small to large business. And for $5.95 even personal websites or blogs get to take advantage of unlimited bandwidth, disk space, email accounts, and hosted domains. Clients get plenty of support for multi-media files and popular scripting languages, plus they get free eCommerce features with a choice of shopping cart software to use.

Customer Service

Bluehost has outstanding support with a 24 hour hotline. Clients can live-chat or email questions as well. Plus clients get access to an extensive online knowlegebase filled with helpful articles, wizards, and video tutorials.

ReliaCloud is pretty mum on telephone contact. And their online knowledgebase has some helpful articles and a total of only 5 video tutorials.

Sadly, the ReliaCloud support is seriously lacking. But again, their target customer is the more sophisticated medium sized business with an IT department ready to manage their own hosting on their cloud servers. Bluehost has an outstanding plan that is suitable for most any business or personal website. Our hearty recommendation goes to Bluehost.
