Hostmonster vs.

Hostmonster vs.

Owning and maintaining a commercial website is not easy. But wants to help make your task as easy as possible. Started in 1997 as a domain registration in England, Easyspace is now one of the biggest web hosting companies in the UK. With affordable shared-server hosting plans packed with features up to dedicated server plans even most small business can afford, Easyspace is certainly worth a look-see.

Hostmonster is based in the US out of Provo, UT, and like Easyspace, is one of the largest web hosting companies in the country. It currently has over 1.7 million websites and growing every month. And talk about easy, Hostmonster takes the debate out of which plan to buy with their single affordable hosting plan.

So with these monsters of web hosting going head-to-head, which one do you think is right for your business or personal website? We take a detailed look at these two giants and give you our recommendation below.

Hostmonster’s pricing is easy. One single plan for just $5.95 per month.

Easyspace has 4 affordable plans starting with the “Pic ‘n’ Mix” plan for $3.96/mo. Their “Starter” hosting is $4.90 per month, while the “StarterPlus” plan is $6.54/mo. You can also look at their “Business” plan that goes for $13.09/mo.

As well, they have VPS plans starting at $16.36/mo, and dedicated server plans beginning at $90.07/mo.

Products and Services

Hostmonster keeps it simple with the extra products and services. Their core business is an all-encompassing hosting plan, without all the distractions of “extras”. But you can bet you’ll get swell free extras in the plan that include free eCommerce tools, a free $75 Google credit, and use of cPanel control panel for account access.

Easyspace has a wide range of hosting plans, and to complement them they also offer domain registration, extra paid webspace and bandwidth, business email services, traffic submission tool to major search engines, and professional web design services. Plus, those with eCommerce websites can benefit from a full-spectrum of tools including shopping carts, payment gateways, and marketing aids.

Web Hosting Features

The Hostmonster plan, as mentioned, is designed to be all-encompassing with unlimited bandwidth, disk space, email accounts, hosted domains, and MySQL databases. You’ll get support for popular scripting and multi-media files, all controlled easily through cPanel control panel.

The shared plans at Easyspace all come with unlimited bandwidth, free setup, and a free domain registration. With each plan up you get more web storage space, more mailboxes, more databases, and more free marketing credits. All plans also come with support for popular scripting.

Customer Service

Customer service for Easyhost is available 24 hours a day, but only via email and online help ticket submission. Their phone hours are only Mon-Fri during business hours, and not through a toll-free number.

With Hostmonster, however, technical support is available by phone 24 hours a day toll free, as well as via email and online help center.

Both companies have proven to be a giant in their market for easy and affordable hosting. Easyhosting offers more plans, and is certainly good for online businesses who are expanding and may need more web computing power in the future. But as they are in the United Kingdom and support is limited (not to mention a stout long distance call), we recommend Hostmonster for anyone with a small business or personal website needing easy and affordable hosting.
