Lunarpages VS Omnis

Lunarpages VS Omnis

A unix hosted web account that seems to have a never ending list of programs you can add or a company that gives you several configurations of a web hosting account to fit you to a tee? These are the aspects to consider when comparing Omnis and Lunarpages.

On the one hand, you could choose from a web hosting account ranging in price from $2.95 a month (5 gigabytes in both storage and bandwidth) to $21.95 a month (unlimited traffic and server space) at Lunarpages. Alternatively, Omnis has a Linux and a Windows package both sporting unlimited bandwidth and space for as low as $5.95 a month (paid for every two years at a total cost of $142.80). While Lunarpages also offers VPS (virtual private server) and dedicated server account, both companies offer highly regarded affiliate programs.

Products and Services

At Lunarpages, a web hosting account includes MySQL databases, unlimited sub and parked domains, PHP and Perl support, Frontpage extensions, and customizable error pages among many more features. Omnis sports PHP 4/5 support (Unix hosting only), ASP (Windows hosting only), unlimited MySQL databases, server side includes and a seemingly unending list of script installers (Unix hosting only) – Joomla, Drupal, Oscommerce and Gallery are just a few of the many scripts they offer. Omnis also offers design services to its customers. You can either choose from their “Do-It-Yourself” Sitebuilder that includes over 800 unique designs or you can get a free quote on a professional site design. Lunarpages offers some great design services (three different packages to chose from) as well and have dedicated hosting and Linux or Windows run VPS accounts. As far as control panels, Lunarpages offers Parallels Plesk and Omnis has its own custom control panel that has been designed specifically for ease of use.

Web Hosting Features

Lunarpages has a $700 free bonus in software available to its customers that includes such programs as VistorVille, LinkWorth and Logo Creator. If you’re looking for a help desk program, Lunarpages also offers tremenDesk – a fully-featured help desk solution. With its Unix hosting solution, Omnis completely rocks! The company offers 5 different blog programs, 7 different CMS programs and 7 “miscellaneous” programs that includes Churchinfo, Openrealty, and Webcalendar.

Customer Service

Both Lunarpages and Omnis offer support in the forms of FAQs, knowledge bases, phone, and e-mail. One extra point for Omnis is its live chat option. According to Hosting Review, both Omnis and Lunarpages score high marks when it comes to customer service.

If your needs are geared toward having the ability to choose from a wide variety of hosting plans, VPS or dedicated servers, as well as a $700 bonus in software, Lunarpages is the route to take. However, if you like the ease of having only two options that are fully loaded or a fully-loaded unix hosting account, Omnis is the hosting company for you.
